A combustion type calorimeter is constructed to allow a fully automatic measuring procedure. A combustion chamber is formed of corrosion-resistant material for placing in a bomb. This chamber has an oxygen inlet or combustion gas outlet. The lead-in or lead-out has a valve for regulation of the oxygen or combustion gas. The chamber can be screwed into the bomb. The chamber can be pot-shaped with a split ring about its edge so that a bomb enclosure can be releasably fixed to it for screwing into the bomb. An aperture can be provided on the base of the chamber so that the oxygen can be introduced or the combustion gas lead away through a sleeve, leaving the combustion space sealed from the surrounding atmosphere.
