The parent patent described a twin screw extruder in which material leaving the screws passed through two arcuate arrays of holes at a common radius in a baffle concentric with the screw tip and having a conic face upstream, a plane face downstream. The various streams, emerging at a common rate and pressure, were recombined to produce a sheet profile. This addn. claims use of a rotary face-cutter to sever the emergent streams, to produce pellets, without recombination of the streams. May be used for materials contg. blowing agents, to produce pellets prior to effective pressure reduction and melt expansion. |
