The fitment is for adjusting the height of a table possessing legs which are in two halves (3) which can be adjusted with the aid of a crank handle. One of the leg sections is in the form of a toothed rack into which fits a cogged wheel (9). The cogged wheel (9) has a self-locking worm drive operated by the crank handle. The toothed rack consists of a row of holes (11) of identical dia and spaced equally apart and positioned directly in one side of one leg section (3), which is contained inside the second section.
