An attachable and detachable filter for use with an ostomy bag (68, 70, 72) includes a plastics housing member having two portions (54, 58) hinged together by an integral hinge (56), each portion having a peripheral wall and at least one of the walls having apertures therein. One portion of the housing member carried a sharp-pointed and resilient-headed generally cylindrical stud (50) which is a push fit through an aperture (60) in the other to clamp together the two portions, there being at least one layer of gas-filtering material contained within one or other or both the housing portions. The gas filtering material may be carbon cloth. Alternatively it may be woven or non-woven fibrous material impregnated with activated carbon particles. |
