Laboratory extraction and separation flask - being flat bottomed conical flask with side branch for venting and with run=off cock attached on the top

Sepn. flask is a flat bottomed conical flask with a side branch close to its base which can be shut off. The conical apex of the flask has a further outlet to which is attached a cock. Cock has a projecting arm above its outlet which traps a magnetic stirrer element if this is used in the flask and prevents it from blocking the outlet. The contents can be mixed and heated with the flask placed on a hotplate etc. To separate two phases, the flask is inverted and the two layers run off. Used for carrying out extraction experiments in the laboratory. Allows two liq. phases to be mixed and treated without the need for manual or machine shaking. Any overpressure developing can be safely vented without loss of solute and the contents can be heated during the extraction experiment.
