<p>The cutting oxygen is fed at high speed through a channel in a nozzle; and channel leads to a wider channel in which suction is created. In channel is a radial inlet for metal powder, which is drawn by suction into the stream of oxygen. The pref. nozzle includes a chamber from which metal powder flows via gravity into inlet; and channel pref. carries the cutting oxygen and the powder into a wider mixing chamber, which has ring inlets for a heating gas and heating oxygen. Some of the channels in the nozzle pref. have an abrasion resistant lining so they are not subject to rapid wear caused by the flow of the powder. Metal powder can be mixed with the cutting oxygen without the risk of an explosion.</p> |
