A mainsail rig for a small boat has the head of the sail on a pivoted support with height adjustment near the top of the mast while the boom is linked to a slider. This slider moves in a guide running from one side of the hull to the other and the foot of the sail is securely attached to the boom. The sail can be trimmed single handed while operating the tiller. The lateral setting is designed to suit the angle of the wind while the vertical adjustment suits the strength of the wind.
