PURPOSE:To surely detect pedestrians and the like by specifying the range complemented (sensed) by sensors in the case where an alarm is given through detection of the pedestrians, etc. by means of sensors provided in specified positions on the lateral side of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:In a device for preventing a left-hand turn accident wherein an alarm is given to a driver through detection of pedestrians and the like entering a certain area on the lateral side of a vehicle by means of the 1st sensor 4 provided in the front end part on the left side of a cab C and the 2nd sensor 7 provided in the front of the side guard of a loading platform N, the range complemented (sensed) by the above sensors is determined as follows: the complemented range is the area surrounded by an outer-left side line 90 of the vehicle in an optional position A where the vehicle 9 is running at a given speed and with the minimum turning radius occupies, by the left side line of the vehicle in a position B where it stops at the minimum distance for stopping from the position A, and by a locus 92 in the front end part on the outer-left side of the vehicle, formed by the above two positions.
