PURPOSE:To finely adjust the amount of ink, by a method wherein an ink sump is formed of an ink fountain roller made of a metal and a channel made of an insulating material having a special cross-sectional area and a plurality of partition plates are provided inside said channel to arrange a plurality of electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A channel 11 made of an insulating material is arranged to the peripheral surface of an ink fountain roller 1 made of a metal to form an ink sump therebetween and the interior of the channel 11 is partitioned into a large number of small chambers along the axial direction of the ink fountain roller 1 by partition plates 12 and a large number of short strip shaped electrodes 13 are mounted to the outside surface of the channel 11 in accordance with said small chambers along the axial direction of the ink fountain roller 1 by an adhesive or vapor deposition. When the voltage of a power source 14 is lowered, outflow driving force in an outflow direction becomes small and, when the voltage of the power source 14 is made high, the outflow driving force becomes large. Therefore, by applying voltage to the electrode 13 at the predetermined area of the channel and controlling the intensity of said voltage, the supply amount of ink to the ink fountain roller 1 can be adjusted finely and rapidly. |
