PURPOSE:To generate high quality converted characters with equal line widths by calculating a moving amount at a critical point after conversions such as enlargement, reduction and rotation and controlling a coordinate value. CONSTITUTION:A critical point extraction means 13 extracts a critical point based on the border line of an original character pattern 11, and an attribute detection means 15 obtains the attribute of the character according to the extracted critical point. A line width information detection means 17 obtains line width information based on the attribute. A character conversion means 19 coordinate-transforms the critical point so as to convert the original character pattern 11, while a line width control means 20 equals the line width of the converted character based on the line width information. Accordingly the entire constitution can obtain the converted character pattern from the original character pattern 11. |
