<p>Contaminated fluid in natural or artificial surface waters can be purified by direct injection of pressurized oxygen in the deeper layers by an injector. Any undissolved oxygen bubbles are collected in a dome extension of a venturi section and returned to the surface. It is passed through a coalescence filter and a catalytic combustion tank for H2S and CH4 before it is recycled in the process. The process makes it possible to raise the O2 concn. to the saturation limit. The biological oxygen demand of the deep waters can be reduced to zero. The power consumption is only one-fifth of the systems using compresses air.</p> |
