<p>Twisted condition of fabric passing through dye station causes non-uniform colouring and random patterning, and pref. the fabric can be reciprocated laterally ahead of a dye applicator cylinder while twisted, or manipulated by periodic variation of degree of compression, and/or degree of twist. Twist is specif. inserted by a rotating turntable from which a fabric supply is withdrawn and then impregnated with quick-setting dye, the turntable pref. including an inclined circular guide hoop which reciprocates the twisted yarn rope laterally. Method is used esp. for random colour patterning of knitted greige garment fabrics.</p> |
