摘要 <p>A liq. biodegradable surfactant comprises oxyethylene and oxypropylene gps. attached to the residue of an alcohol at the site of its active hydrogen gp., the ratio of the OE and OP gps. being at least 4:1, and the total no. of OE and OP moles being 9-10 moles per mole of alcohol. - Also claimed are: (1) An aq. detergent compsn. contg. 5-50 wt.% of the surfactant and (2) A detergent formulation contg. an alkaline component (builder) and 5-20 wt.% of the surfactant. - Pref. the OE/OP ratio is pref. at least 5:1, esp. 5:1-10:1 and more pref. 5:1-7:1. The total no. of OE and OP moles is pref. 9 moles per mole of alcohol. The surfactant is a min. iodine no. of at least 13.8 and contains 14-18C. The alcohol is derived from tallow or from an alcohol having a min. iodine no. of at least 40.</p>
