PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of reflectivity by color fading and the decrease of C/N in the stage of repetitive reproduction by forming an optical recording film which permits boring recording by laser light on a smooth transparent substrate and forming a reflective layer on the surface of the optical recording film after the recording. CONSTITUTION:This production process consists of the 1st stage to form the recording film 2 on the smooth flat plate-like transparent substrate 1, the 2nd stage to condense the laser light onto the smooth recording film 2 and to write signals in the form of a bored pit array 4 by high-accuracy mechanical feed, and the 3rd stage to form the reflective layer 3 on the recording film having the recorded pit array 4. A material which has no spectral characteristic absorption in a >=400nm wavelength region is preferable as the transparent substrate 1, for which materials such as polycarbonate, polymethacrylic resin, glass and epoxy resin having smooth surfaces are adequate. A material which has no >=10% spectral absorption characteristic in the oscillation wavelength region of a semiconductor laser and permits the boring recording by sensing <=750nm laser light is used for the optical recording material. The deterioration of the C/N and reflectivity is thereby obviated.
