PURPOSE:To prevent generation of dust, by floating up a carrier bed by means of magnetic fluid in a conveying passage and permanent magnets so that the carrier bed is driven by the interaction between a conveying side rotary disc on which the permanent magnets are laid, and reaction plates on the carrier bed. CONSTITUTION:A carrier bed 2 carrying thereon a conveying material G is floated up by the interaction between a permanent magnet 24 laid on the bottom surfaces of leg sections 22 of the carrier bed 2 and magnetic fluid disposed in an opened groove in a conveying path 1. In this condition, when a drive device 4 rotates a rotary disc 41 in the advancing direction, the interaction between a plurality of magnets 42 secured on the rotary disc 41 and a pair of reaction plates 27 between which the magnets 42 are laid and which are attached to the lower surface of a setting bed 21 through an attachment 26 gives a thrust force to the carrier bed 2. Thus, it is possible to obtain a miniature and economical drive device for a conveying apparatus with no dust being produced, and therefore this drive device is suitably used for a clean room or the like.
