PURPOSE:To aim at improvement in sealability, by forming a seal body at a normal seal position into cupped form with an elastic member, and installing a ringlike face insert holding part coming into end-contact with a seat of an emergency sealing device and a seal fitting part. CONSTITUTION:An emergency sealing device 5 and a normal sealing device 6 are fitted in a propeller shaft with some play. A pocket 9 is formed in a proper spot at the inner circumferential side of a seat 7 of the sealing device 5, a rubber seal ring 10 is fitted therein, pressed with a noncompressive fluid 13 by a bolt 14, thus it is attached to the shaft 3 with pressure. The normal sealing device 6 is made to serve as an elastic body, formed into cupped form, on which a ringlike face insert 16 coming into contact with a front end face of the seat 7 is supported. In addition, on an outer circumference of the front end, there is provided with a band 18, and with this band tightened, a fitting part 15b is formed in the shaft 3. With this constitution, replacement of the normal seal is easily performable and, what is more, the extent of sealability is improvable.
