Coating panels to obtain decorative effects - by spraying ground colour and applying metallic powder followed by pattern

After the ground colour has been sprayed on to an automobile panel using a cellulosic, acrylic or polyurethane paint, and it has been dried and prepd. for prodn. of decorative effect, metallic powder in a suitable dilutant is applied. Decorative pattern is outlined with a brush and after this has been blurred by treatment with a pad to form marblings, it is dried in the air. Colourless polyurethane varnish is then sprayed on and quite remarkable patterning effects can be achieved.
