<p>Continuous centrifuge for draining sugar crystals etc. is of the type comprising a chamber contg. a basket of annular cross-section which rotates at high speed about its central, vertical axis. Drained prod. is ejected by centrifugal force from the basket into the chamber. The base of the chamber is now made horizontal, or practically so. The base has a discharge opening and a mechanical transporter evacuates drained prod. from the base by pushing the prod. into the discharge opening. The mechanical transporter is pref. a rotary or reciprocating rake. Used for continuous centrifugal draining of sugar crystals and similar prods. Horizontal discharge of prod. avoids the necessity of steeply inclined discharged from large dia. centrifuges. This means that very large dia. centrifuges can be made with quite low overall heights. These can be accommodated in low headroom spaces.</p> |
