PURPOSE:To enhance the holding ability of an electrolyte by fusing a resin powder and causing it to stick on one side of a separator to form projections on the one side, and by fixing another separator on the one side. CONSTITUTION:A synthetic resin powder having thermoplasticity and a resistance to electrolyte is spread on one side of a known separator such as paper, nonwoven cloth, woven cloth, felt, sheet etc., and heated to a temperature over the melting point of the resin, thereby causing the powder to melt on the one side. Projections are formed on one side of the separator from the melt. Next, another separator is fixed on the one side, thus forming a sandwich-type separator unit. With this constitution, the separator unit provides a raised impregnation with little increase in electric resistance, and furthermore, the whole surfaces, of electrodes can be compressed. |
