The hair clip (10) has two integral branches (11,12) which are elastically biased towards each other. One of these (12) has a central slot (14) with lateral wings on each side of this which are joined at one extremity by a cross bar (15). The other branch (11) is joined to this cross bar and fits into the opening of the first branch. The other extremity of the opening is also closed by a cross bar (16). The single branch has a decorative sleeve which is slid on to it.
