1472564 Baling presses K W QUESTER [trading as WILH QUESTER] 15 July 1974 [21 Aug 1973] 31225/74 Heading B5F [Also in Division B8] In apparatus for providing packaged bales of compressed tobacco leaves, or the like, the leaves are fed from hopper 2 to a chamber 5 for compression by a vertically operated ram in compartment 6, a lateral wall 9 of chamber 5 being movable by ram 12 to eject the bale of leaves horizontally into an open box or bag 16 which is then sealed by welding or stitching before removal on roller conveyer 19. The wall 10 directly opposite wall 9 is slid back on guide 15 immediately before ram 12 operates. Floor 7 of chamber 5 is vertically adjustable by jack 8. Bags may be slipped over a support frame adjacent wall 10 to receive each bale. The packaged bale is pushed on to conveyer 19 by ram 12, or by an intermediate package.
