PURPOSE:To generate larger brake power, when a power turbine is reversed, by connecting the power turbine in an exhaust passage to a crankshaft with a gear inverting mechanism, which reverses a direction of rotation when a friction clutch is connected, and a lubricating oil supplying means to a lubricating oil path which supplies lubricating oil to this mechanism. CONSTITUTION:Connecting a power turbine 7 to a crankshaft 16 by a gear inverting mechanism 17, when its friction clutch is actuated in a connecting direction, the turbine 7, left before as driven in a normal direction of rotation by exhaust gas in exhaust gas passages 5a, 5b, is driven in a reverse direction of rotation by the crankshaft 16, and the turbine 7, loading negative work to the crankshaft 16, generates brake power. On the contrary, a lubricating oil supplying means 47 determines a quantity of lubricating oil, fed to the gear inverting mechanism 17 in the time of normal rotation, to be set to a value maximizing efficiency in the time of normal rotation, supplying the lubricating oil to be increased in its quantity for that determined value in the time of reverse rotation. Consequently, by stirring the oil supplied to the gear inverting mechanism 17, energy is consumed, and the brake power is loaded to the crankshaft 16. |
