The engine has an intake filter with a circular housing (1) within which there is an annular filter element (11). Air enters through two tangential inlets and flows from the space outside the element radially through the element into the chamber inside the element. A centrifugal fan impeller (13) rotates inside this space. It adds to the air flow produced by the suction of the engine and it can be driven by an exhaust gas turbine or by an electric motor (19) built into the filter casing in the space within the element. The filter casing fits directly onto the carburettor into which the fan discharges.
