The keyboard, has each button depressed against the force of a return spring, to operate a respective contact set. Each of the buttons is coupled to a slider plate parallel to the keyboard plate and which has apertures receiving operating elements for the individual buttons. The slider plate operates at least one contact set common to all the buttons. Each button has a guide shaft fitting into a guide sleeve which projects perpendicularly from a base plate. When the button is depressed the contacts of the associated contact set are operated directly while the slider plate is moved via an operating pusher attached to the button which fits into a slot in the slider plate.
