The linkage for raising a window of an esp. motor vehicle carries out a non-linear movement when opening or closing. One guiding arm (1) has one end section rigidly connected to a gear member (4) of a hinge gear unit (5), and the other connectable with the window. There is a second guiding arm (17) which has one end section connectable to the window, at an interval from the first, and the other end is rotatably mounted and connected to the gear unit via an intermediate gear (20). The gear unit is pref. a quadrilateral, with the first arm rigidly connected to its connecting member. This permits very uneven movements of the window pane, while being light in weight and reliable.
