<p>The chart cylinder works in conjunction with a rotating time indicator unit, and has a foot with bushings, drive and pressure bearing units. The world map is inside a transparent plastics cylinder, and is divided into twenty-four time zones, each representing one hour. The central shaft (2) of the cylinder is ball-bearinged (4) in PVC bushings fitted in the foot. In the shaft is a cable (3) feeding lamps with 220 v current from the mains via a switch fitted on the foot. A synchronous motor acts as drive unit, and is mounted in the cylinder foot. Its drive shaft rotates at a speed of one eighth of a revolution per hour. It drives the central shaft via three gearwheels with a ratio of 3:1. A liq. crystal display clock is also incorporated in the cylinder foot, and shows hours, minutes, months and days. (Provisional basic advised week 88/19)</p> |
