A method of restoring worn bearing areas on a marine propeller shaft in which the area is cleaned and a wire compatible with the metal of the shaft is applied through an inert gas shielded arc welding gun, the wire being wound around the shaft by rotation thereof and fused to the shaft and adjacent turns during winding, the area being subsequently machined to produce a finished surface.</p> |
