PURPOSE:To increase exhaust purifying performance by blocking clearances between the inside surface of the vessel for the catalyst and honeycomb-shaped carrier by constructing in such a manner that honeycomb-shaped carriers carrying catalyst on the inside surface of many passages of said honeycomb are contd. in a vessel and partition members are disposed to protrude to the end surfaces of the honeycomb- shaped carrier facing to each other. CONSTITUTION:In a two-segment monolithic catalyst converter monolithic catalyst 1a, 1b are contained in a front and rear vessel 2a, 2b. Shock absorbers 4a, 4b of metallic net are inserted in clearances 4a, 4b between each vessel 2a, 2b and catalyst 1a, 1b. Each heat- and corrosion-resisting metallic partition 8a, 8b in the shape of a ring is protruded to faced to the end surface of catalyst 1a, 1b. Entire external faces of those partitions are respectively welded on internal periphery of vessels in order to cause no leakage. Exhaust gas remained unpurified is prevented from successively passing through clearances 4a, 4b. |
