<p>The dynamometer reacts to a force applied to deformable diaphragms. An axial guide assembly eliminates errors due to transverse components to provide high precision measurements. A cylindrical casing (100) has an internal shoulder (102) against which is located an upper diaphragm (110) with a central hole (116). A lower diaphragm (120) is located at the lower end of the casing and has a central hole (126) aligned with the hole in the upper diaphragm. A shaft (160) passes through the holes and is guided by a spacer sleeve (170). A button (195) on the uoper end receives the applied force (196) which is measured by concentric electrodes (200,210) forming a capacitor. The moving electrode (210) is fixed to the sleeve while the fixed electrode is maintained in position by diaphragm spacing sleeves (130,140).</p> |
