Tundish, esp. for continuous casting of steel - contains crenellated partitions anchored in crenellated inner lining panels in tundish to minimise turbulence

This is an addn. to 2330951, which described a tundish with an internal lining formed by panels made of a thermally insulating refractory (TIR), some of the panels being crenellated. The novelty in the present invention is that the tundish contains a partition (8) made of TIR and provided with crenellated edges mating with crenellations in the side panels in the tundish. Partition pref. extends downwards to the base of the tundish, and has one or more holes in its bottom edge. One or more partitions can be securely located in the tundish without using mortar, and without the danger that the partition will float.
