Mixture control system for engine - has processor control monitoring dynamic changes to compute optimum fuel input and mixture

The engine is fitted with monitors for cylinder pressure (13) crankshaft angle (7) and inlet temperature (17). Other parameters measured include engine temperature, exhaust monitor, battery voltage etc. The processor (15) computes a reference fuel input level from programmed data. The fuel level is modulated by a correction amount which refers the dynamic changes in the engine e.g. when the engine is accelerating or retarding. No airflow monitor is required. The engine pressure is monitored at a set crankshaft angle and the variations in pressure given an indication of the torque changes in the engine. From the basic programmed values in the processor simple correction signals are computed and added to the control.
