PURPOSE:To analyze the mode of an arbitrary refletive-index distribution optical fiber by perfirming mode excitation at the light-transmitting side so that the wavelength is corresponding to propagation mode, and separating the mode according to the wavelength at the light receiving side. CONSTITUTION:The light transmitting side comprises a light source 1 and a wavelength exciter 2. As the light source 1, one having a finite spectral width is used. The light receiving side, which comprises a spectroscope 4 and a sensor 5, separates the mode by wavelength separation. The wavelength exciter 2 excites lights having different wavelengths from each other so that the wavelength corresponds to the mode. |
