The quick-release clamping mechanism consists of an upper angle bracket (1) to which is fixed the road sign. The angle bracket is located above the upper clamp assembly (11) which fits over the slide supports (8) and has an extension tube (13). The lower clamp (14) fits beneath the slide supports. The width of the lower clamp is less than the space between the slide supports such that when turned through 90 deg. it can pass down through the supports. The vertical pin (7) has a collar at the lower end and is a loose fit in the bore of the extension tube through which it passes. The upper end of the shaft is drilled to take a pin.
