The solar power electricity generating system uses radiation reflected to a central point where the resulting heat is used to create steam. The steam thus produced drives a turbo-generator to provide electric power. Mobile plane mirrors are carried on trucks which stand on concentric circular railway tracks seated on ballast material. At the centre of the circular tracks there is a tower supporting the steam producing boiler. The mirrors are made of polished aluminium, coated with a protective layer of silicon varnish. Each is supported by a spherical ball joint at its centre of gravity, and taut cords attached to the four corners. A telescopic arm is attached to the mirror by a further ball joint to change the angular position of the mirror. The mirrors are moved by controlled synchronous motors, whose speed is planned in advance according to appropriate calculating tables.
|
