<p>The tongs include one electrode (10) mounted on a piston rod (14A), which can move until a pin (28) in the rod meets a limit stop (27). The counter electrode (11) is located in a holder (11A), fitted with rollers running in a curved slot, and located on pivots (50) mounted on one end of a work cylinder (15) which can be driven along rod (14A). When a pressurised fluid is fed into one end of cylinder (15), electrode (10) is driven against the workpieces (E1,E); more fluid is then driven into the same end of cylinder (15) to swing holder (11A) upwards in an arc so electrode (11) butts against pieces (E1,E). Very high accessibility is provided for placing workpieces of widely different shapes between the electrodes (10,11).</p> |
