<p>The harvesting machine reel is particularly for combine harvesters, and has spiders with radial arms on a shaft. The spaces formed between the arms (12) and their mountings (10) are filled by transparent cover plates (14). Each plate can have a number of drillings (16) large enough to allow a view through from the side when the reel is working and these can be round, oval or polygonal, their diameter being greater than the width of the intervening spaces. Alternatively, the plates can be of plastics material similar to glass in optical properties. The design reduces the risk of accidents to persons working on the machine, while allowing the function to be observed.</p> |
