The guides (33) for the tangential drive belts (23,24) of the two-for-one spinning machine are mounted independently of the spindle rail (2) along the line of belt travel. The belt guide rollers (33) are mounted in dampened units, partic. of rubber. The spindle rail (2) is plate-shaped with side flanks (3) along the length of the machine, or has a box-profile with the carrier beam ranging within it, and the interior of the box-shape is cladded with a sound-absorbent material. The top and bottom plates covering the two spindle rails (2) form a box-shaped zone, with the wharves (7) of the horizontal spindles (6) ranging into this space, which also houses the carrier beam (26) with the drive belt guide rollers. The design reduces operating noise levels.
