<p>Radiography device includes a luminescentscreen, consisting of an evaporated layer of an activated alkali halide which rests on a fibre optics plate acting as the light exit. A cover plate with side frame creates a moisture-tight enclosure. The X-ray film is pressed against the other side of the fibre optics plate where it can be held by a hinged cover. The preferred halide is cesium iodide, activated by sodium, or cesium iodide and cesium bromide, activated by thallium. The amplification by the luminescent screen reduces the time of exposure to X-rays for a patient. It retains, however, the same good resolution.</p> |
