As built into large shops, railway stations, airports and elsewhere, opening automatically when people approach, a door unit has two wings sliding opposite ways and two stationary side pieces. Each door half (2) has swivelling connection with a girder (8) connected to its carriage (7). The fixed side piece (1) is in the form of a swivelling door wing (14), interlocking, when closed with the sliding section with a labyrinthine sealing unit (21) on the frame parts which reach the ceiling. A guide shoes (22) may be provided at the bottom, in the form of a pivot bearing which slides in a guide-rail (11). This ensures that the doors open over full width in a panic situation under crowd pressure.
