<p>The doors of motor cars can collect on the face end with the door lock a layer of dirt, mixed with the door lock lubricant, which is not removed by the normal wash. Both this face on the door and the mating face of the door opening are therefore covered with a punched-out contoured strip of thermoplastic material 0.5-3 mm (1.3 mm) thick, pref. polyethylene or acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, with a chrome coating on the outside. These strips can be bonded or fixed by screws and are flexible enough to follow any curved contours. If necessary, they can consist of several separate parts. Such strips do not corrode and can be produced at lower cost than metal strips.</p> |
