<p>A test leak probe is partic. for use in seal testing, partial pressure measurement, or calibration of leak testing device. It uses a completely different operating principle from that employed by conventional probes. It is suitable for wide use in laboratory as well as series testing applications. The principle involved is permeation. Permeation takes place through a membrane inside the probe. A definite gas throughput passes through the membrane and the test gas is then measured using a mass spectrometer. The membrane may consist of a plastics foil or a rubber or rubber-like material. For a Helium probe the membrane material may be polysulfon, polytrifluorochlorethylene, polypropylene, polyimile or polyethanediolterepthalate. tje first three of which result in short adjustment times.</p> |
