Horizontal boring machine with swarf removal device - uses additional jet of oil to retain swarf and cooling oil

A horizontal boring machine has a boring tool with a longitudinal hole eccentric to its axis of rotation. Cooling oil is pumped into this hole and emerges from a radial hole at the end of the tool and brings the swarf produced during boring out of the hole in the work piece. To ensure that the oil and swarf are retained in the housing a jet of oil is injected through an annular nozzle which creates a local zone of low pressure which draws in air through the annulus formed between drill shank and the hole in the cover.
