<p>Thermosetting adhesive compsn. contains by wt., as active ingredients (a) 30-95 (40-85)% one or more polyester-imide, polyamide-imide or polyhydantoin prepolymers; (b) 5-60 (10-40)% copolymer prepd. by the copolymerisation of, by wt., (b1) 30-80% one or more 1-8C alkyl acrylates or methacrylates, (b2) 5-30% acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile, (b3) 0-20% glycidyl (meth)acrylates, (b4) 0-20% 1-5C omega-hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, provided at least one of (b3) or(b4) is present and the sum of (b1) to (b4) is 100%; (c) 2-40 (5-25)% copolymer prepd. by the copolymerisation of, by wt., (c1) 30-60%of 1 or more 1-8C alkyl acrylates or methacrylates, (c2) 30-70% styrene, (c3) 0-20% olefinically unsatd. carboxylic acid, (c4) 0-20% 1-5C omega-hydroxyalkyl acrylate or methacrylate, provided at least one of (c3) or (c4) is present and the sum of (c1) to (c4) is 100%; and (d) 0-50 (0-30)% thermosetting phenol-HCHO resin having softening point above 20 deg.C. The sum of (a), (b), (c) and (d) is 100%. The compsn. opt. contains standard additives, e.g. surfactants, hardeners, corrosion, inhibitors, fillers and pigments. The compsn. is used esp. for cementing brake liner or brake liner compsns. to metallic carriers. The adhesives are heat-stable and form joints resistant to corrosion, oil and benzene.</p> |
