The folded edges of a shirt front, which carry buttons and button-holes, are sufficiently broadened towards the top of the shirt to ensure that the selvedge is not visible when the shirt is worn open-necked with out-turned collar. The folded edge extends at least partially around the neck opening and is sewn into the seam which attaches the collar to prevent it creasing and rucking. A stiffened lining material may be included inside the fold. Arrangement permits replacement of worn collars and ensures a neat, uniform appearance to the exposed inside surface when the shirt is worn with the neck unbuttoned.
|
