The switchable throttle valve is for use in a hydraulic or pneumatic circuit, particularly for a pneumatically-operated door. Its housing (1) with inlet and outlet branches (3,4) contains a selector member (2) working in a bore between the operating and throttling positions, so as to restrict the passage between the branches in the latter position. A pulse-actuated mechanism changes the selector over between the two positions. Annular chambers (8,9,10,15) can be formed between the bore and the plunger-type selector, which is relieved so that in one position the chambers are interconnected and in the other shut off from each other. A throttle (5) is mounted between the inlet branch and a chamber (15), used in the selector throttling position.
