Vessels which are symmetrical to an axis of rotation are used for the storage separately of two volumes of fluid, which are functionally dependent upon each other. The vessels are pref. divided across the middle by membranes fixed to the container walls, so that each container has two similar chambers which are variable in volume. The geometrical layout of the vessels and the membranes are such that in the outermost position, the membranes lie closely against the container wall, whilst in all intermediate positions they float freely. Used for the recovery of energy from concentrates obtained under high pressure in reverse osmosis plants and wet oxidn. installations for the treatment of sewage. The double reservoirs are operated cyclically in parallel and the part flow of soln. is fed into the reverse osmosis installation backed up by the highly pressurised concentrate, and using a high pressure pump to make up the slight difference in pressure.
|
