PURIFIER FOR CARBON FINE PARTICLE

PURPOSE:To collect and purify carbon fine particles effectively even in case an exhaust gas temperature is comparatively low by a method wherein a collecting means for the carbon fine particles and an oxidizing catalyst are provided within an exhaust gas passageway and a fuel injecting means is provided at an upper stream side thereof. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas containing fine particles of carbon or the like is introduced from an engine 2 into a purifier 4 through an exhaust manifold 3 and an exhaust tube 5. The fine particles of the carbon are arrested and collected an upper stream side of a filter 8. When fuel is injected from an injection nozzle 13 into the upper stream side of the filtter 8, the injected fuel is oxidized and burned by the oxidizing catalyst 12 and the carbon fine particles collected in the filter 8 is burnt out and purified by heat thereof. The said nozzle 13 is connected to a fuel pump 16 through a valve 17, but the valve 17 is controlled so as to stop feeding of the fuel hen the engine is stopped or a high load operation generating a comparatively high temperature of the exhaust gas is being effected.
