The high speed and precise manipulator is for the reciprocating movement of an active component (20) between, on the one hand, any position (2') chosen from among a plurality of possible positions (2) of a first zone (1) and, on the other hand, any position (4') chosen from among a plurality of possible positions (4) of a second zone (3) which is distant from the first zone. The manipulator comprises means of fixed travel displacement (11,12) between a specified point (5) of one of the said zones and a specified point (6) of the other of the said zones, and means for precise displacement (17,19) which are associated with the means for fixed travel displacement (11,12) and position-controlled. <IMAGE>
