PURPOSE:To detect a fault of the printer quickly and to give a warning at the same time by checking whether the production timing and charge timing of an ink drop agree with each other in a charge deflection type ink jet recorder. CONSTITUTION:When a printing operation of one line is completed, the check pulse generator circuit 30 is operated by an output signal of the counter circuit 26, and operation of the printing charge pulse generator circuit 27 is halted. Simultaneously the flip-flop circuit 31 is reset, the format circuit 21 emits a retrieval signal the polarity of which is opposite to the charge pulse, the signal is amplified and fed to the charge electrode 9. In the case of a printing failure, since the charge timing is improper and no voltage is developed at the detecting electrode 23 when the ink drop passes through the electrode 23, the flip-flop circuit 31 is not set. Consequently the flip-flop circuit 32 is set and the alarm lamp 35 is lighted. |
