ILLUMINATOR

PURPOSE:To improve the effective utilization rate of light and to miniaturize the whole constitution by inserting a low-voltage discharge lamp into an insertion holes formed in a photoconductor. CONSTITUTION:The photoconductor 1 formed of a milk white light diffusing and transmitting material in a plate or block shape is surrounded with a casing 2 except its top surface and the internal surface of the casing 1 is a reflecting surface 3. The insertion holes 4 and 4 are formed in the photoconductor 1 horizontally in parallel to each other and the top surface of the photoconductor 1. Then the straight tube type cold-cathode-ray fluorescent lamps 5 and 5 are inserted into the throughholes 4 and 4 while having their end parts projected from the photoconductor 1. Neither external leak loss nor reflection loss is therefore caused. Consequently, the effective utilization rate of light discharged from the lamps can be improved and the miniaturization is also realized.
